Sometimes dogs miss out on early training for many reasons. Maybe it wasn’t possible during early years, maybe a dog has been rescued and never had the opportunity for training or it could just be your dog requires a few refresher sessions. Positive experiences, the right training and suitable skills will enable them to fit into the human world and ensure your dog can settle into a happy and contented adult.

At Talk to the Hound we provide a group class for dogs of any age which is suitable for the whole family to come and join in with. If however you feel that you would prefer some more individual attention then we can provide a 1:2:1 home based courses as an alternative.

So, whether it is in our group session or on a 1:2:1 basis you and your dog will enjoy relaxed, fun training sessions which will deliver positive results. It is never too late to teach those basic skills.

Sessions are held outdoors providing a great environment to build on your dog’s training while everyday distractions carry on in the background.

Foundation training course

Our 6 week group training course is designed to give you the tools to teach your dog to grow into a well-mannered integrated part of the family.

It is suited for dogs of any age.  Dogs need to be fully vaccinated before they begin, and vaccination cards will need to be seen before lessons begin.

Your dog will be introduced to walking nicely on a lead, gain recall techniques, learn some impulse control and learn basic manners such as sit, stay and leave it. In addition, you will learn methods for keeping your dog calm and relaxed in different environments.

Dog will be on a lead for the session unless advised otherwise by a trainer. Important – Dogs must be both human and dog friendly to enrol on the class. 

We only use force free positive reward-based training as we believe training should be fun for all involved. This means you will need plenty of small tasty treats to help along the way, a few favourite toys and plenty of praise.

The group courses are approximately 1 hour long. Sessions will include many practical exercises, however there will be some discussion involved in order for you to gain that extra knowledge to help you along the way.

Children are welcome to attend the courses as we love for the whole family to be involved, however for safety we ask that there is no running and parents are responsible for supervision at all times.

You will be provided with phone and email assistance for the duration of the course.

You will also have access to a private Facebook Group where you can ask questions and have access to additional training materials.

The one important note is that you will need to practice regularly with the methods taught in class. We can give you the tools to take away, however to achieve the best results your dog will require consistent and regular training sessions.

6 week course cost £145 (6 x approx 1 hour sessions)
